Dream LakeWow!  Woww!!  Wowww!!!  Wowwww!!!!  Wowwwww!!!!!  That’s how a sixteen-month old described a recent tour of Luray Caverns.

She was right.  This is an amazing place.  The entire family will enjoy the view of staglactites and staglacmites as they take the self-guided tour through the caverns.  Nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Mountains of  Virginia the caverns, formed millions of years ago, have been called a “fairyland in stone” by National Geographic.  The view outside is idyllic, the view inside is awe inspiring.

Stalactites form from the ceiling down.  Stalacmites build on their way to the ceiling.  There is wonder after wonder to see on your self-guided tour.  Each of the over eleven different viewing areas presents beauty and magnificence that leaves one speechless.

You’ll be enthralled by Dream Lake, an illusion both surreal and beautiful.

Saracen’s Tent is a magical wonder.

Giant’s Hall intrigues.

See millions years’ old “Fried Eggs.”

Before leaving, make a wish at Wish Lake.

Once outside don’t forget the Car and Caravan Museum.  Included with general admisson the Museum presents milestones in transportation.  There is an 1840 Conestoga Wagon, an 1892 Benz, a 1925 Rolls Royce and many more.

The caverns are open every day of the year.  For more information visit www.luraycaverns.com, Luray Caverns>Home and Virginia Is For Lovers.
