Do Men Who Marry Smart Women Live Longer?
Do men who marry smart women really live longer? Makes sense to me.
There is a rumor, maybe even an actual study, circulating that this is true.
How does a man become a test subject? Do guys actually volunteer that their wives are thicker than a stack of bricks so … sign me up?
Perhaps if the wife is that dense she’ll never know otherwise.
I do think there is merit to this study or theory. If you’ve ever had to work closely with someone who is standing in the doorway of dim-wittedness, you know how exasperating and exhausting that can be. It can make you wish for an early demise just to escape. Same thing may apply to men who marry dumb women or vice versa.
It could be that dumb women bore the daylights out of their partners so the partner dies earlier as a result of ennui.
Think about it this way: If the wife is hard-pressed to recite the alphabet and the husband is subsequently assigned the task of doing all of his and her thinking, yes, that would wear you out in no time flat.
Mothers and fathers warn their children not to stick the fork tine into the electrical socket, not to walk out into traffic and not to take the electrical hairdryer into the tub with them. Now, what if you had to ride herd on a brainless spouse?
On the other hand, if a husband has a smart woman, he doesn’t have the burden of taking care of her and the attendant stresses that go along with babysitting the spouse. No wonder men who have smart wives live longer. They take care of their wives because they want to, not because they have to. It’s not a never-ending impediment. It’s a choice.
I know it would shorten my life span significantly if my husband were dumber than a box of rocks. Life is hard enough with a smart spouse.
